Description
Smart Lighting combines cloud, sensor and communication technology to enable street lamps to connect, communicate and share data via a data hub. The data is then provided for location managers and can enable remote control of the lamps and the ability to gather a range of data relating to usage for analysis. Energy savings vary on the type of lights deployed, and can be up to 50% through the ability to dim and set light levels to the required limits rather than over-provision of energy.
Maintenance costs can be lowered by the advanced ability to schedule repair work based on real-time usage data and on-site conditions, and lowering the number of calls to help centres from individuals reporting on broken lights. Lower energy usage means lower carbon dioxide emissions. Additional applications include improvements to public safety, both through better maintenance (utilising real-time information) and reaction to real time sensor information.
