Description
RedBite’s Smart Highways is an interoperable smart asset management system that tracks challenging highway assets to optimise maintenance processes. GPS, QR codes and RFID tags are utilised to allow maintenance and construction personnel to quickly and easily identify assets. Each asset has a unique profile that is accessible via RedBite’s mobile application. It is here that all relevant Building Information Modelling (BIM), construction, historical maintenance and sensed data can be accessed and contributed to while on-site and offline.
The system provides accurate, accessible and real-time insights about the condition and status of assets such as gullies, street lights, signposts and sections of road as well as highlighting any potential risks caused by issues with assets, such as areas at risk of flooding due to blocked gullies. Vital, up to date asset records can be assessed prior to being and while on-site, allowing for a right first time approach to job completion.
The benefits of using the Smart Highways system include, a switch to a paperless approach, more efficient asset management and a reduction in the cost of maintaining such challenging assets. The unique system facilitates a collaborative approach to asset management, allowing teams to work seamlessly together.
“I have been involved with the pilot of RedBite’s technology since the beginning and have seen the potential it has to revolutionise the process of managing our wide variety of highway assets. Innovative technology such as RedBite Asset will benefit road users, as well as current and future maintenance contractors”
